Redistricting update: Senate doesn't have the votes
Dear neighbor,
On Friday afternoon, Senate leadership announced that they do NOT have the votes to redraw Indiana’s congressional maps. Mid-cycle redistricting will not move forward in the Indiana Senate.
Press Release from Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville):
STATEHOUSE (Nov. 14, 2025) - “Over the last several months, Senate Republicans have given very serious and thoughtful consideration to the concept of redrawing our state’s congressional maps. Today, I’m announcing there are not enough votes to move that idea forward, and the Senate will not reconvene in December.”
Thank you to everyone who called, emailed and rallied against this effort. Your advocacy is the reason this push stalled in the Senate. Your voices were loud, clear and impossible to ignore. In a time when activism can feel discouraging, this is proof that you DO make a difference.
Republican lawmakers faced immense pressure from Washington, including threats of primaries, targeted ads and coordinated social media campaigns. I am glad to serve alongside the group of Senators who chose to listen to the voice of the people instead of caving to Washington insiders.
While the Senate has made its position clear, the House still operates under the impression that we may reconvene. As of today, we have received no additional guidance on whether a December session will occur. I will continue to keep you updated as we learn more.
I’m hopeful that we can move past this power grab and return our focus to affordability. The state legislature has real work to do in addressing rising health insurance premiums, utility costs and child care challenges. Your prosperity must be our priority.
I remain committed to building a future Hoosiers can afford.
Finally, my thoughts are with Terre Haute State Sen. Greg Goode and his family as they were the victim of a swatting incident last night. I am thankful for the professionalism of our local law enforcement officers as they responded to the situation. Threats or intimidation against lawmakers and their families — regardless of party — have no place in our state. Let’s move forward as a community by acting with kindness and civility to everyone.

Thanks for the work you do and the leadership you show. I too am sorry about the attacks on Greg Goode and his family. That behavior does not belong in our country
Jacquie
Thank you!
